what to expect

Your Guide to a Psychic & Mediumship Reading

Everything you need to know to feel at ease and get the most from your session

So, you’ve booked a reading — how exciting! Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been before, it’s completely natural to feel a little flutter of nerves mixed with curiosity. This little guide is here to help you feel relaxed, prepared, and ready to enjoy the experience.

1. Come with an open mind

Think of your reading as a gentle, unscripted conversation. Neither of us knows in advance exactly what will come through — and that’s perfectly okay! The information that arrives, whether from your own energy or from a loved one in spirit, unfolds naturally in the moment.

In a way, we’re both stepping into the unknown together. Nothing is guaranteed, and every reading is its own unique experience. Approaching it this way — with curiosity rather than fixed ideas — really does help things flow.

I will always describe what impressions I receive

2. Try to let go of expectations

It’s totally human to come in hoping for certain things — a message from a specific person, answers to a particular question. We all do it! But here’s the thing: the more you can let go of those expectations, the more you’re able to receive whatever wants to come through.

By doing this, we don’t get tunnel vision on one issue, and won’t miss other information that wants to come through.

Sometimes what comes through is exactly what you needed to hear, even if it’s not quite what you were expecting. Stay open, and you may be pleasantly surprised.

3. “But I really want to hear from…”

This is one of the most common feelings people bring to a mediumship reading, and it’s completely understandable. It’s worth knowing, though, that a medium can’t ‘call up’ a specific person from the spirit world — it doesn’t quite work that way.

As we approach your session, I suggest gently inviting the loved ones you wish to contact. When we begin, we’ll both send out that invitation together, along with your love and your happiest memories of them.

Who comes through is often a family member or friend, though not always the one you had in mind. If you stay patient and open, the person you’re hoping for may well find their way through — and sometimes the message you receive turns out to be exactly what you needed, even if you didn’t realise it yet.

4. Got a question?

It’s natural to come into a reading with questions on your mind. A good reading will often answer many of them naturally as it unfolds.

We’ll have a general chat beforehand, and I may notice certain issues playing on your mind. However, if you find there are still things you’d like to explore, the best time to bring them up is towards the end of your session. I will be checking in with you regularly throughout your reading, so it will often naturally unfold and head in that direction.

Jumping straight into a very specific question at the very start can sometimes narrow the energy, which may mean other valuable messages get missed. Letting the reading breathe first usually gives much richer results, and feels a more beneficial conclusion to your reading.

We will of course be having a conversation following your reading to clarify things, both for you, but also for me getting your feedback to see what resonated or not.

5. Can I book another session?

Absolutely — please just ask! If you’re unsure about timing, how soon to rebook, or anything else about the process (especially after a bereavement, for example), don’t hesitate to have a chat about it at the end of your session. Just keep in mind that answers may vary from one reading to the next — that’s simply the nature of this work.

6. Most importantly — enjoy it!

Your comfort and enjoyment really matter to me. This is your reading after all. The aim is for you to leave feeling lighter, a little more at peace, and perhaps with a gentle sense of guidance to carry with you.

So come along with a warm, open heart and a sense of curiosity. That energy alone makes a wonderful difference. I like to think of it as an exciting adventure.

I very much hope you enjoy it — be energetically present with me to boost the information that will come through.

I am very much looking forward to sharing this experience with you. So I will see you soon, and drop me an email if you have any queries beforehand and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

All my best wishes,
Jonny.
